Mold Set-Up Technician

Location: Battle Creek, MI


Position Overview
A leading automotive supplier is seeking a skilled Mold Set-Up Technician to join their team in Battle Creek, MI. This role is responsible for efficiently and safely changing injection molding machine dies, robotic tooling, and programs to ensure continuous, high-quality production. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude, independent troubleshooting capabilities, and hands-on experience with large-tonnage injection molding machinery and robotics.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently change injection molding machine dies, robotic tooling, machine programs, and robot programs.
  • Verify standard operating conditions and complete setup verifications to ensure machine changeovers meet established requirements.
  • Operate and troubleshoot injection molding machines ranging from 180 to 1,600 tons.
  • Program and modify 3-axis and 6-axis robot positions as required for production.
  • Perform minor adjustments to molding machine settings, including pressure, temperature, speed, and feed rate, to ensure product quality.
  • Participate in troubleshooting production-related issues, machine breakdowns, process concerns, and scheduling challenges.
  • Maintain a safe, organized work environment and follow all company safety policies and procedures.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an injection molding technician or in mold set-up.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and solve problems independently.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Yushin and Star robots.
  • Demonstrated experience with injection molding process optimization.
