SMT Technician
Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
Shift: 2nd & 3rd Shifts

Position Overview:

The SMT Technician is responsible for operating, setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment used to manufacture printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies in a high-volume automotive electronics manufacturing environment. This hands-on role supports production by performing machine setups and changeovers, loading electronic components, conducting preventative maintenance, inspecting products for quality, and troubleshooting equipment to minimize downtime. The ideal candidate has experience in automotive electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly processes, and working with automated manufacturing equipment while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment to support daily production requirements
• Load electronic components and materials into SMT equipment for production runs
• Perform machine setups and product changeovers to accommodate varying production schedules
• Conduct preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on SMT equipment to maximize uptime
• Perform minor equipment repairs and assist in resolving production issues
• Visually inspect printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies to ensure quality and compliance with manufacturing standards
• Complete production documentation accurately and maintain required records
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company standards
• Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to support manufacturing goals
• Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures while supporting continuous improvement initiatives
• Support overtime and weekend production schedules as business needs require

Key Qualifications / Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Technical, mechanical, or electronics training preferred
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in automotive electronics manufacturing
• Experience working with printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing or PCB assemblies
• Understanding of basic electronics and electronic assembly processes
• Experience operating automated manufacturing equipment with the ability to work independently
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent attention to detail with a focus on product quality
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
• Previous experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment strongly preferred
• Experience performing equipment troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and machine changeovers preferred
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as production demands require
