Director of Warehouse Operations
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Shift/Hours: M-F | Typically 6 am-3 pm
Position Overview
The Director of Warehouse Operations provides strategic leadership for a multi-site distribution network, driving operational excellence through warehouse modernization, Lean initiatives, and continuous improvement. This leader will develop high-performing warehouse teams while leading the launch of a new 3PL operation and optimizing distribution strategy to support the company's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multi-site warehouse and distribution operations while developing and mentoring Warehouse Managers and salaried leaders.
- Drive warehouse modernization through Lean initiatives, WMS optimization, process improvements, and technology implementation.
- Oversee the launch and integration of a new 3PL distribution operation while optimizing inventory flow across the distribution network.
- Improve receiving, shipping, warehouse flow, safety, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Establish and manage warehouse KPIs to drive continuous improvement and operational performance.
- Partner cross-functionally to develop long-term distribution strategies that support business growth.
- Lead organizational change by building team buy-in, fostering collaboration, and creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years leading multi-site warehouse/distribution operations.
- Proven leadership of salaried leaders and high-performing teams.
- Strong experience with receiving, shipping, warehouse flow, safety, and high-volume SKU management.
- Experience with 3PL operations, warehouse launches, and distribution network optimization.
- Proven success in implementing Lean, TPS, Kaizen, WMS optimization, and warehouse modernization.
- Metrics-driven leader with experience improving warehouse KPIs and operational performance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change, gain team buy-in, and make independent operational decisions.
- Experience launching new distribution centers or 3PL operations.
- Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
