Financial Analyst (Manufacturing)

Position Overview
A leading automotive manufacturing organization is seeking a Financial Analyst to support plant-level financial operations within a fast-paced production environment. This position will play a key role in financial reporting, cost analysis, inventory accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and overall financial support of manufacturing operations. This role offers a unique opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys both traditional financial analysis and hands-on manufacturing cost accounting responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring strong manufacturing finance experience, a solid understanding of cost accounting principles, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights. This position is well-suited for someone who enjoys analyzing variances and helping drive informed business decisions through accurate financial analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support plant financial operations through reporting, reconciliations, analysis, and month-end close activities.
- Perform cost accounting functions including labor costing, material costing, inventory analysis, and manufacturing variance reporting.
- Analyze labor, material, inventory, and operational variances while providing recommendations and insight to leadership.
- Maintain and analyze Bills of Material (BOMs), part numbers, labor routings, burden rates, and costing structures within the ERP system.
- Assist with standard cost development, cost rolls, and cost updates.
- Analyze weekly sales, cost of sales, profitability, and operational performance metrics.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and annual business planning activities.
- Track and analyze tooling expenditures, capital projects, fixed assets, and program-related spending.
- Review balance sheet accounts and prepare supporting reconciliations and documentation.
- Support financial audits, internal controls, and SOX compliance activities.
- Monitor inventory transactions, cycle count activity, and inventory valuation accuracy.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, and Program Management teams regarding cost changes, pricing updates, and profitability analysis.
- Maintain ERP system data related to part numbers, BOM structures, labor standards, and costing information.
- Develop recurring management reports and perform ad hoc financial analysis as requested.
- Assist the Controller and Assistant Controller with forecasting, reporting, financial planning, and special projects.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal financial controls.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Costing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting, finance, financial analysis, or cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience with manufacturing costing, including labor, material, inventory, and variance analysis.
- Experience supporting month-end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong data analysis capabilities.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.|
- ERP experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, or CA).
- Automotive manufacturing experience
- SAP experience
