Job Description
Inventory Control LeadLocation: Battle Creek, MI
Position OverviewThis is an Inventory Control Lead opportunity with a warehousing and logistics company, but it's a very hands-on floor role rather than a traditional management position. The primary focus is on investigating inventory discrepancies, performing cycle counts, auditing inventory processes, and identifying root causes of inventory issues. You'll spend most of your time on the warehouse floor working directly with inventory, making system adjustments, and ensuring inventory accuracy. There is some oversight responsibility for a small inventory team of up to five employees, but the role is much more focused on the day-to-day inventory operations than people management.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, investigate, and resolve all inventory discrepancies.
- Conduct root-cause analysis on inventory problems and provide findings to customer service teams.
- Perform regular inventory audits and random audits of pickers to ensure correct location picking.
- Coordinate and execute regular cycle counts, as well as mid-year and year-end physical inventory counts.
- Assist with inventory control, scheduling, and adjust inventory quantities in the system as required.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of experience, preferably in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory control processes, cycle counting, and audit procedures.
- Proven attention to detail, accuracy, and strong root-cause analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and professional email communication.
- Ability to work both independently as a self-starter and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active forklift certification.
- Detailed knowledge of supply chain management software and inventory practices.
