Area Leader – Stamping Department
Location: Bowling Green, Kentucky
Shift: 3rd Shift
Position Overview:
This leadership role provides direct oversight of a high-volume automotive stamping operation within a Tier-1 manufacturing environment. The Area Leader is responsible for leading Team Leaders and production personnel while driving safety, quality, productivity, employee development, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the department. This position serves as a key operational leader, ensuring manufacturing objectives are achieved while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and world-class manufacturing standards.
The ideal candidate brings prior leadership experience within automotive manufacturing, stamping, metalforming, or other high-volume production environments and possesses a strong ability to develop teams, improve performance, and drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily operations within the stamping department, ensuring production, quality, safety, and delivery objectives are consistently achieved
- Directly supervise and develop Team Leaders and production team members, promoting accountability, engagement, and professional growth
- Drive a safety-first culture by ensuring compliance with all safety procedures, conducting audits, investigating incidents, and implementing corrective actions
- Coordinate labor, equipment, and resources to maximize efficiency and support production requirements
- Monitor and improve departmental KPIs related to safety, quality, productivity, cost, and delivery performance
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements and internal quality standards while supporting corrective action initiatives
- Promote and lead continuous improvement activities, including Lean Manufacturing, 5S, standardized work, visual management, and problem-solving initiatives
- Partner closely with maintenance, quality, engineering, and other departments to resolve production issues and improve overall operational performance
- Support escalation processes, production troubleshooting, and rapid response activities when quality or production concerns arise
- Conduct coaching, performance discussions, and employee development activities to strengthen team capabilities and leadership bench strength
- Lead safety meetings, support employee training initiatives, and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety programs
- Maintain strong communication across all levels of the organization and foster a positive team-oriented culture
- Serve as acting department leadership when required and support broader operational objectives across the facility
- Promote world-class manufacturing principles and support ongoing operational excellence initiatives
Key Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience within a manufacturing environment
- Previous leadership experience in automotive manufacturing strongly preferred
- Experience within stamping, press operations, metalforming, or other high-volume manufacturing environments preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
- Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs, production scheduling, safety compliance, and quality systems
- Experience driving continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word
- Strong communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work flexible hours and support production demands as needed
