Quality & Receiving Specialist
Location: Grand Rapids, MI

 

 Position Summary

The Quality & Receiving Specialist is responsible for supporting incoming material inspection, receiving operations, and inventory accuracy within a small manufacturing environment. This role ensures that all incoming products are verified for accuracy, quality, and correct specifications before entering inventory or production. This position works closely with purchasing and production teams to maintain material flow accuracy and plays a key role in ensuring that special-order parts and high-detail components are correctly received, inspected, and documented. This is a hands-on, detail-focused role in a fast-paced environment where reliability, communication, and accuracy are critical.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities, part numbers, and product accuracy
  • Inspect incoming materials for quality and compliance with specifications
  • Support cycle counts and inventory verification processes
  • Partner with purchasing and inventory teams to resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure accurate labeling, boxing, and organization of incoming materials
  • Maintain accurate receiving documentation using Excel/manual tracking systems
  • Support production by ensuring correct materials are available and properly staged
  • Physically move, inspect, and verify materials on the production floor as needed
  • Identify and escalate product or shipment issues when discrepancies occur
  • Support shipping preparation and order accuracy as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and accuracy of receiving area
  • Follow internal quality and operational procedures closely

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in receiving, quality control, warehouse, or manufacturing support roles
  • Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environments required
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to manage part numbers, SKUs, and specifications
  • Experience with receiving, inspection, or inventory verification strongly preferred
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on production environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams
  • Ability to work independently and follow processes with accuracy
  • Experience in small team environments preferred
  • Forklift experience or willingness to become certified preferred
  • Excel or basic computer tracking experience required
