Press Manager
Location: Greenville, South Carolina


Position overview:
This role provides leadership oversight for a large-scale automotive stamping and press operation within a Tier 1 manufacturing environment. The Press Manager is responsible for leading a high-volume stamping facility producing exterior body panels and structural components for major automotive OEM programs. This is a highly technical, hands-on leadership role overseeing large hydraulic and mechanical press systems, transfer and progressive die operations, and tool & die performance in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate brings strong Class A stamping experience, deep tool & die knowledge, and a proven ability to lead, coach, and develop production teams. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily leadership for press and stamping operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production of Class A automotive body components
  • Oversee operation of large-scale hydraulic, mechanical, transfer, and progressive stamping presses supporting high-volume OEM programs
  • Ensure production of Class A exterior body panels meets strict surface, dimensional, and cosmetic quality standards
  • Partner closely with tool & die teams to support die maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of stamping processes
  • Drive production performance including uptime, scrap reduction, throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, team leads, and production associates with a strong focus on leadership development and accountability
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to resolve equipment and process issues in real time
  • Support scrap handling and material flow processes, including high-volume steel and aluminum usage typical of large stamping operations
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment
  • Support operational planning, scheduling, and overtime management, including occasional 6-day production schedules as needed
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives across press operations and tooling performance

Key Qualifications / Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field required
  • Strong background in Class A automotive stamping, with outer body panel experience strongly preferred
  • Deep experience with tool & die systems, including troubleshooting, maintenance coordination, and die performance optimization
  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold teams accountable
  • Strong understanding of high-volume press operations, including hydraulic and mechanical stamping systems
  • Automotive Tier 1 supplier experience strongly preferred, particularly in high-volume production environments
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting production demands and occasional extended schedules
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills
