Title: Design Engineer
Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Job Description:

The Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and improvement of products and components from concept through production. This role applies engineering principles, CAD tools, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure designs meet performance, quality, cost, safety, and manufacturability requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop new products, components, or systems based on customer requirements, internal specifications, and industry standards
• Create and maintain detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software
• Perform engineering analyses to validate design performance and feasibility
• Support prototype builds, testing, and design verification/validation activities
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and operations teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective
• Participate in design reviews and implement feedback to enhance product performance and reliability
• Manage engineering change requests (ECRs/ECOs) and maintain accurate documentation
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including cost reduction and design standardization
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards, safety regulations, and company procedures

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years of design engineering experience
• Proficiency with CAD software (CREO experience preferred)
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, materials, and manufacturing processes
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
