Position Overview Our client, a global manufacturer of high-performance rotating components, is seeking a Heat Treat Specialist. This is a highly hands-on role that bridges the gap between the production floor and the metallurgical lab. The Heat Treat Specialist will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of induction heat treating processes. This is a critical position ensuring product quality and process consistency for a wide range of global market segments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and troubleshoot induction heat treating processes and equipment on the production floor.

  • Perform metallurgical lab inspections, including microscopic/macroscopic examination, hardness testing, and magnetic particle inspection.
  • Prepare metallurgical samples through sectioning, mounting, polishing, and etching for detailed analysis.

  • Support process development, continuous improvement, and root cause analysis related to heat treat performance.

  • Conduct measurement tasks for APQP and PPAP processes, including capability studies and ISIR layouts.

  • Train process stakeholders on induction parameters and verify effectiveness through cross-shift audits.

  • Ensure incoming materials meet quality certifications and manage supplier non-conformance issues.

  • Maintain lab equipment, chemical mixing, and calibration standards for testing tools.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in heat treating, metallurgical lab work, or a related manufacturing environment.

  • Working knowledge of induction heating processes or a strong understanding of setting up induction coils.

  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and the use of mechanical/programmable measuring tools.

  • Experience with hardness testing, magnetic particle inspection, or etch equipment.

  • Valid driver’s license and proficiency in Microsoft Office/ERP systems.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with IATF 16949 standards and statistical techniques.

  • Experience specifically within the automotive or engine component manufacturing industry.

  • Associate’s degree or technical training in Metallurgy or Materials Science.
