Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist
Location: Birmingham, AL
Position Overview
A well-established automotive manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist with a heavy focus on environmental compliance. This role is critical in ensuring all operational procedures align with local, state, and federal regulations while fostering a "Safety First" culture. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in ADEM regulatory compliance and ISO 14001 standards within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive studies and analyses of environmental incidents, causes, and risks to develop mitigation procedures.
Utilize Risk Assessments to reduce the potential and severity of environmental non-conformances.
Consult with internal departments on equipment design, fire prevention, and safety programs.
Perform regular facility tours and inspections to detect hazardous conditions and recommend corrective actions.
Manage environmental files, records, and permits, ensuring full compliance with Air, Storm, and Wastewater requirements.
Oversee consultant activities and coordinate ISO 14001 certification audits.
Investigate accidents and injuries, preparing evidence for hearings or insurance investigations.
Lead training programs to increase organizational proficiency in environmental and safety practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
3–5 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of ADEM (Alabama Department of Environmental Management) regulatory compliance.
Technical background in Air, Storm, and Wastewater requirements.
Certified Auditor or proven experience supporting ISO 14001 audits.
