Assistant Controller | Greenville, South Carolina

This role provides financial leadership support within an automotive manufacturing environment. The Assistant Controller partners closely with the Controller and operational leadership to guide financial strategy, oversee accounting and purchasing functions, and support data-driven decision-making. This position is both strategic and hands-on, responsible for analyzing performance, supporting product quoting and pricing, strengthening financial systems, and ensuring accurate reporting that drives profitability and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:
• Support the Controller in guiding the financial direction of the business by developing and reporting meaningful performance metrics
• Assist in developing cost structures and pricing strategies across products and markets, including direct involvement in customer quotations and product cost evaluations
• Prepare and evaluate detailed financial analyses for new business opportunities, plant initiatives, and product launches, including risk assessment and recommendations
• Monitor financial and operational results, analyze variances to plan, and recommend actions to improve profitability and asset utilization
• Partner with operations and leadership to evaluate cash flow, return on investment, capital expenditures, and overall financial feasibility of business initiatives
• Support the administration and continuous improvement of financial systems and controls, including planning, forecasting, reporting processes, activity-based management, and financial evaluation systems; experience with SAP strongly preferred
• Provide oversight and guidance to accounting staff as directed and assist in managing daily accounting operations and purchasing activities
• Interpret financial reports for operational leaders, proactively question spending trends, and communicate clear, actionable insights in group settings
• Support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and ensure adherence to financial and safety regulations
• Perform additional duties in support of overall business objectives


Key Qualifications / Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of four years of experience, including at least three years in a supervisory role, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• CPA, CMA, MBA, or Master’s degree in Accountancy strongly preferred
• Proven experience in a manufacturing environment; automotive manufacturing background strongly preferred, with machining or fabrication experience considered
• Working knowledge of operations controlling systems, cost estimating, financial measurement tools, and product pricing strategies
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data, communicate insights clearly, and confidently contribute in leadership meetings
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, guide planning efforts, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
