Environmental Health & Safety Specialist
This role supports an automotive manufacturing facility by administering and improving health and safety programs across the plant. The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist is a hands-on position responsible for driving OSHA compliance, supporting ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards, managing safety documentation, and promoting a strong safety culture. While the primary focus is health and safety, the role also assists with environmental initiatives and works closely with leadership and production teams to reduce risk and maintain regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer and continuously improve plant-wide health and safety programs in alignment with OSHA standards and internal policies
• Conduct safety assessments, hazard analyses, and job safety analyses for existing and new equipment
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations, document findings, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented
• Maintain required safety records and regulatory documentation, including workers’ compensation administration and accident reporting
• Coordinate and deliver safety training programs to increase awareness and ensure compliance across all team members
• Support and participate in ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification efforts, including audit preparation and follow-up actions
• Facilitate Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings and promote safe work practices throughout the facility
• Partner with leadership and production teams to identify hazards, address concerns, and reinforce a zero-injury safety culture
• Represent the organization in external safety groups or industry-related programs as needed
Key Qualifications / Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 2–4 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive
• OSHA 30 Certification required
• Experience supporting ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards; ISO Auditor certification preferred
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations, incident investigations, and workers’ compensation processes
• Strong communication skills with the ability to conduct training and speak confidently in group settings
• Ability to work in both office and plant environments, including extended or flexible hours and minimal travel as needed
