Job Description

Job Title: Production Supervisor

Job Overview:

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading daily production operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets. This role manages assigned Team Members, coordinates resources, and drives continuous improvement to ensure consistent, efficient, and compliant manufacturing performance. The Shift Supervisor champions safe work practices, develops team capabilities, and maintains a high-performance culture aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee shift operations to ensure production meets or exceeds Safety, OEE, Scrap, On-Time Delivery, Schedule Attainment, Training, and Quality targets

  • Diagnose and correct first-run machining defects, collaborating with operators to verify tooling, setup, and dimensional accuracy.

  • Monitor performance metrics and implement actions to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and eliminate errors

  • Lead and support root-cause investigations and corrective actions using Lean tools and techniques

  • Promote and enforce safe work practices, including ergonomics, stretching programs, proper machine operation, guarding, lockout/tagout, and PPE usage

  • Train Team Members on job requirements, work instructions, control plans, and company policies

  • Ensure all team members understand and uphold quality expectations, including accurate documentation of required data

  • Maintain 100% schedule attainment and support customer delivery commitments

  • Improve OEE by minimizing downtime, optimizing performance, and increasing first-time yield

  • Support environmental compliance initiatives and seek opportunities to reduce environmental impact

Key Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or related field or equivalent industry experience (willing to consider experience instead of education).

  • Experience with diagnosing and correcting first-run machining defects, collaborating with operators to verify tooling, setup, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong problem-solving ability with a track record of driving solutions

  • Working knowledge of production systems such as MES, MRP, or ERP

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with plastics processing and manufacturing methods, including One-Piece Flow, Automation, Poka-Yoke, 5S, and Cell Design

  • Demonstrated team leadership, coaching, or facilitation experience
