Materials Planning & Logistics (MP&L) Manager

We are partnering with a leading automotive manufacturing company seeking a hands-on Materials Planning & Logistics Manager to oversee and optimize all material flow, inventory control, production scheduling, and shipping operations. The MP&L Manager ensures materials are available just-in-time (JIT) to meet customer requirements while controlling costs and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily activities of the Materials Department, including inventory control, production processing, and finished goods shipping.

  • Coordinate material flow to ensure 100% on-time delivery of quality products.

  • Maintain and communicate machine capacity, manpower needs, and customer volumes.

  • Partner with customers and suppliers to optimize material planning and logistics.

  • Oversee supplier selection, performance standards, and compliance with company policies.

  • Develop and implement MRP system policies and ensure accurate reporting of financial and inventory data.

  • Monitor customer communications, EDI systems, and advanced ship notices (ASNs).

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Materials Department team, including performance management and succession planning.

  • Support budget planning and cost management initiatives.

  • Promote continuous improvement, lean practices, and 5S principles within the department.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards (e.g., ISO, TS16949).

Key Qualifications / Education:

  • Minimum 5 years of material control/logistics experience in automotive manufacturing.

  • Extensive leadership experience.

  • Experience with CMS, MRP systems, and operations/inventory management practices.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen principles.

  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Post-secondary education in Materials/Logistics Management or equivalent experience.
