Job Description

Job Title: Prepress Operator

Location: Battle Creek, MI or Indianapolis, IN

 

Job Summary:
The Prepress Operator is responsible for preparing and producing print files to go to press, in compliance with job specifications and in accordance with company quality standards and procedures. This role involves coordinating the workload schedule to meet deadlines while achieving optimum productivity. The Prepress Operator works closely with other team members to exceed expectations.

As a member of the Production Team, you are accountable for:

  • Meeting department production and quality goals, as well as providing value to customers
  • Playing a key role in meeting company-wide profitability and customer satisfaction goals
  • Contributing to a work environment that fosters pride in being part of a winning team and promotes personal growth
  • Following systems and procedures outlined in company manuals, procedures, and work instructions
  • Complying with all OSHA safety requirements

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

General and Administrative:

  • Coordinate with the Production Team to produce and prioritize jobs, and, when necessary, reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates
  • Participate as a key player in the Production Team by supporting operations as needed
  • Communicate effectively with management and team members, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee that objectives are met

Prepress Operations:

  • Prepare files for various digital and offset printing equipment
  • Layout, image manipulation, and prepress production for digital color and black-and-white output
  • Produce proofs/mockups of projects for review and approval
  • Maintain current knowledge of electronic prepress and print technology
  • Communicate ideas and suggestions to help improve current processes

Required Qualifications:

  • Legal ability to work in the United States
  • High school diploma/GED with experience, vocational/technical certification, or equivalent work experience/on-the-job training
  • Proficient with Mac/PC computers and Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat

Desired Qualifications:

  • Vocational/technical degree in graphic arts with a focus in print manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Kodak Prinergy Workflow & Color Systems, Preps Imposition Software, and Fiery Command Workstation
  • Able to apply written and verbal instructions and handle multiple projects
  • Maintain flexibility in a constantly changing environment
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and attention to detail
