Job Description

Weld Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Weld Engineer to join a leading automotive manufacturing environment. This role will focus on supporting and improving welding processes, equipment, and standards while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. The Weld Engineer will work closely with engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to troubleshoot issues, train personnel, and drive continuous improvement in welding operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise on welding processes, equipment, and quality standards

  • Develop and maintain welding parameters, work instructions, and compliance documentation

  • Support new program launches and customer requirements related to welding

  • Train production staff on robotic and manual welding techniques, as well as safety standards

  • Train maintenance teams on troubleshooting and repairing welding equipment

  • Supervise and manage robot setup and programming for welding applications (preferably FANUC)

  • Participate in APQP and PPAP activities to ensure successful program development

  • Recommend design and process improvements to increase quality, reliability, and efficiency

  • Conduct safety inspections, accident investigations, and implement corrective actions

  • Support cross-functional teams in quality, engineering, and production

  • Communicate effectively with team members, management, customers, and vendors

  • Travel as needed to customer or tooling facilities

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Weld Engineering (or related field) or equivalent experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in automotive welding engineering, design, or process development

  • Hands-on experience with resistance welding (required) and projection welding (strongly preferred)

  • Experience in robotic welding programming (FANUC preferred)

  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, GD&T, and IATF 16949 standards

  • Strong computer and documentation skills

  • Knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety standards

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours when needed
