Job Description

Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor – 1st Shift
Location: Grand Rapids, MI


Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to oversee maintenance operations at a food manufacturing facility. This individual will supervise and mentor maintenance staff and leads, ensure high quality and reliable production, manage work schedules and budgets, maintain a 5S environment, and enforce safety, GMP, and company standards. Technical proficiency in electrical systems (up to 480 V), PLC troubleshooting, blueprints, and facility infrastructure is required. Experience with EAM and SAP systems is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise maintenance team and leads; manage hiring, training, performance evaluations, scheduling, and disciplinary actions.
  • Enforce 5S, safety, GMP, and environmental standards.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment—gas‑fired ovens, electrical systems, motor controls, arc‑flash requirements, pneumatic systems, PLCs, power transmission.
  • Manage maintenance workflow, investigate and resolve scheduling/payroll issues.
  • Collaborate with production, suppliers, and corporate stakeholders to minimize downtime and ensure product quality.
  • Maintain accurate records; analyze operating reports to identify and resolve maintenance/production issues.
  • Train and mentor team members; support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to OSHA, NFPA 70E, and all applicable safety and environmental regulations.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in business or related field preferred; Bachelor’s a plus.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing (non‑union preferred).
  • Experience in food manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, EAM, SAP.
  • Deep knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, motor controls, and gas‑fired oven maintenance.
  • Skilled in blueprint, pneumatic, and ladder logic reading.
  • Strong leadership, communication, conflict‑management, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E (Arc Flash), and GMP practices.
