Job Summary:
 

This is a high-impact Quality Engineer role for Matcor Metal Fabrication’s facility in Welcome, NC, focused specifically on Caterpillar's cab paint line. The candidate will be the primary quality liaison between Matcor and Caterpillar, ensuring high standards in product quality, process control, and customer satisfaction. Ideal candidates will have quality experience in metal fabrication, specifically in paint, welding, surface finishing, and dimensional inspection.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Act as the main quality contact for a critical OEM client, handling all quality-related matters.

• Monitor and improve paint line processes to meet internal and customer specifications.

• Perform root cause analysis and lead corrective/preventive actions for quality issues.

• Utilize quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, 8D, and Six Sigma to reduce defects and scrap.

• Coordinate and conduct audits, inspections, and testing to meet regulatory and customer standards.

• Work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and maintenance teams.

• Present quality metrics, trends, and improvements to internal leadership and client representatives.

• Maintain and enhance the quality management system (QMS) related to the paint line.
