Job Summary:
The Controller will report to the General Manager and will manage and drive improvement in the financial systems, including sales forecasting, planning, product cost estimating, and operations controlling. He/she will play a key role in the finance performance improvement initiative and will be expected to champion required changes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform various account postings and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) documentation and standards.
- Prepare complex financial analyses for business opportunities, assess associated risks, and provide recommendations.
- Advise management on evaluating financial aspects of existing and proposed business ventures, including cash flow, ROI, capital requirements, and pricing.
- Prepare and complete Monthly Financial Package within 8 days of the month-end close date.
- Develop and submit the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and weekly flash forecasts.
- Provide and analyze financial information for annual external audits.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of balance sheet items and bank statements.
- Ensure plant reports are accurate and submitted within deadlines as required by management or government agencies.
- Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite work flow to ensure efficiency.
- Track and report purchasing expenses and headcount monthly, comparing actuals to the budget.
- Perform ad hoc financial analyses as requested by management.
- Establish, modify, and implement accounting procedures and controls.
- Fulfill duties of all supervised employees, as needed.
- Study and standardize procedures to improve the efficiency of subordinates.
- Comply with the requirements outlined in the company handbook and OHSA.
- Adhere to all operational procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, as well as quality and environmental programs (e.g., IATF, ISO 14001).
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in accounting and completion of the CMA or CPA
- Technical college or equivalent degree coupled with 2-3 years bof anking, finance, and/or accounting experience.
- Knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS
- Working knowledge of financial and non-financial measurements systems, lean manufacturing practices, and cost management systems strongly preferred
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
- Ability to respect and maintain the confidential nature of the data processed
- Ability to establish goals and guide strategic and operational planning in the finance organization.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills with the ability to clearly communicate a vision, educate individuals and teams, and influence decisions
