Job Summary:
To assist in establishing and maintaining a safe, productive and well-organized manufacturing department. Sets up and adjusts machine tools, such as milling machines, boring machines, drills, and punch presses, and plastics molding machines for other workers, to maintain workflow, by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Must work within guidelines established by the Quality Control Department and customer requirements.
• Must maintain an open line of communication with all employees, maintain, and other supervisory personnel.
• Attendance expectations would be to remain below the level of 1st written warning.
• Required to solve production problems, make necessary equipment adjustments, and maintain machine cycles.
• Assure that personnel and equipment is safe daily.
• Assist Production Control Coordinator. with the role of supervisor upon absence of the regular shift supervisor and also fill in for vacationing supervisor on any shift when necessary.
• Required to do job set-ups, fixture set-ups, and production start-ups as needs arise.
• Must follow cell-layout per set-up book and product book.
• Helps give breaks when necessary.
• Must promote a positive attitude and be courteous to all employees.
• Must use and respect safety power lockout procedure.
• Must have a valid forklift operator’s license and operate in such a manner to avoid damage to equipment, property or personnel.
• Required to use certain computer programs and software.
• Promote a clean, organized work environment guided by the principles of 5S. Promote a culture of continuous improvement opportunities. Actively participate in TLBO initiatives.
• And any jobs duties assigned by Supervisor.
• Reads setup sheets for tooling instructions, such as head tool size, mold positioning, machine parameters, fixtures, other instructions, as required. Generates new and updates existing setup sheets, as required.
• Must work in a safe, responsible manner at all times to protect yourself and co-workers. Must wear company provided personal protective equipment.
• Must abide by all of the organization’s work rules, policies and procedures.
• Installs and adjusts head tooling for a straight parison drop, with all stop nuts set correctly.
• Responsible for housekeeping and a clean, organized work environment guided by the principals provided by 5S+1.
• Must maintain a positive attitude and be courteous to all employees.
• Installs mold onto platens, adjust any stop nuts on platens if need be, connects all water, air, and/or hydraulic lines to the molds. Check all connections for proper flow and/or operation. Uses spacer bars on platens, when needed.
• Sets all machine parameters, such as temperatures, clamp positions, clamp speeds, screw and injection speeds, parison programming, and timer settings to what the setup sheet specifies.
• Sets up machines and equipment other than molding machines, such as drill presses, punch presses, boring machines, cooling racks and other fixtures.
• Starts machine to obtain first fully formed part that is close to part weight. Checks all fixtures for proper part fit and operation.
• Removes molds, fixtures, and tooling from equipment and work area, when scheduled.
