Job Summary:
The Director of Business Development will oversee a team of local and remote sales professionals, driving results at both the regional and national levels. This hands-on leader will contribute directly to sales by managing their own book of business while coaching and developing a high-performing team. They will work closely with executive leadership to align sales efforts with company objectives and implement best practices for process-driven growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3-6 sales and business development professionals across multiple locations, including Battle Creek, Livonia, and Indianapolis.
- Set clear expectations for individual and team performance, monitoring progress toward activity and revenue targets.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth within the sales organization.
- Actively recruit and onboard top sales talent to expand the team’s capabilities.
Sales Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute a personal sales plan to achieve or exceed a personal annual sales target of $1MM.
- Guide the team’s efforts to drive new business opportunities and build long-term client relationships.
- Leverage the full suite of company capabilities—including print, packaging, fulfillment, and technology services—to meet client needs and exceed expectations.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and implement marketing resources and strategies that support a clear sales vision.
Process & Technology Optimization
- Ensure a process-driven approach to sales, utilizing best practices for pipeline management and reporting.
- Oversee the adoption and optimization of tools like Salesforce and marketing automation workflows to improve efficiency and results.
- Analyze sales activity and pipeline data to identify opportunities for growth and areas for improvement.
Travel Requirements
- Periodically travel to other facilities in Livonia, Michigan, and Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Regularly visit clients and prospects to strengthen relationships and drive business development.
