Job Summary:
 
The Toolmaker is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving dies in-house to ensure the production of high-quality products in a safe and efficient manner. This role is key in supporting production runs, enhancing tooling processes, and driving continuous improvement in the plant’s operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain dies and other tooling to ensure they produce high-quality parts.
  • Continuously improve tooling processes to enhance productivity and product quality.
  • Troubleshoot issues with dies during production and resolve them promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all tooling.
  • Keep PM schedules up to date and accurately fill out preventive maintenance sheets.
  • Perform TIG and MIG welding on die components as necessary.
  • Handwork and heat treat parts to specifications as part of die maintenance.
  • Modify dies and tooling to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Verify the conformance of machined or repaired dies by checking dimensions, clearances, and alignments.
  • Work closely with production to ensure tooling readiness and resolve any production issues related to tooling.
  • Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
  • Promote a safe and efficient working environment by adhering to safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and tooling area, adhering to 5S principles.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained, stored, and ready for use.
  • Support production teams by ensuring tooling is ready and functioning for production runs.
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the tooling department.
  • Assist with any other duties related to tooling and production support as required.
