Job Summary:
The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of tools, dies, fixtures, and jigs to ensure optimal performance in production. This includes assembling and testing complex tools on manufacturing equipment and supporting troubleshooting efforts to maintain efficient operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Wear all required safety equipment and maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform preventative maintenance and ensure the area is clean and organized following 6S standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, verbal instructions, and part specifications.
- Plan the setup and operation of various machine shop tools, considering material types, tolerances, and tool specifications.
- Weld repair and perform heat treatments on different materials, including tool steels.
- Inspect work using precision measuring and gauging tools during and after machining.
- Perform hand operations to produce and fit jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies.
- Assemble and test tools and dies, troubleshoot issues, and correct problems to meet specifications.
- Tear down, repair, and reassemble tooling on the bench or in the press as required.
- Assist tool room personnel and cell leaders with troubleshooting tooling during production runs.
- Pull and set up tooling as needed.
- Process required paperwork.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain valid forklift and overhead crane operator certifications.
- Support production and tooling teams with troubleshooting and innovative problem-solving.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Regular and punctual in-person attendance is mandatory.
