Job Description
We’re looking for a Refrigeration Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our design / build contracting team!
In this fully remote role, you will support cold storage, food & beverage, and industrial process facilities nationwide. As the SME, you’ll provide expertise in pre-construction, engineering, and post-construction phases, helping internal teams understand design strategies, system benefits, and assisting with troubleshooting through engineering, construction, and startup.
What makes this position even more interesting is that the company provides a bonus based upon the profit of each project you work on, so after getting a pipeline of projects rolling you will receive regular "commissions" along with your salary each month.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Refrigeration Engineering SME throughout all project phases, from concept to startup.
- Conduct Needs Assessments and System Audits to identify service opportunities with clients.
- Work collaboratively to develop comprehensive refrigeration and mechanical utility system solutions.
- Conduct risk assessments and SWOT Analysis to guide project feasibility.
- Draft concept sketches, milestone schedules, and Class 4 estimates for project development.
- Support the sales process, participating in client meetings to present engineering strategies and project benefits.
- Communicate design strategies, system benefits, and troubleshooting insights with internal teams during engineering, construction, and startup.
- Develop scopes of work, technical specifications, and manage bid package content to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Participate in RFP evaluations and provide recommendations for contractor selections.
- Oversee Design/Engineering consultant and Design-Build contractor contracting.
- Provide on-site guidance for Quality Assurance / Quality Control inspections and commissioning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 5+ years of industrial refrigeration engineering experience, with a focus on ammonia and Freon systems.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite; familiarity with AutoCAD is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of engineering concepts, design strategies, and system benefits.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
