Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Technical Director to provide exceptional engineering and technical support throughout the organization. The Technical Director will lead the Engineering and Quality Teams and ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective technical solutions are provided in the areas of R&D, Operations/Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the R&D / Product Development activities
  • Participate in R&D and Quality efforts.
  • Technical evaluation of new parts and products in support of the overall business.
  • Manage and maintain current engineering drawings on all products.
  • Lead the Quality department in determining root cause of failures.
  • Support the Production department with fixturing, testing, and overall efficiency.
  • Conduct regular (minimum monthly) meetings with other departments to discuss product development, quality concerns, and provide project updates.
  • Manage all capital expense projects related to the engineering and quality departments.
  • Support the procurement team in supplier selection and technical evaluation of supplier qualification.
  • Support sales and marketing teams as needed with technical literature and support.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Experience in developing new components and products.
  • Previous experience leading an engineering and/or quality team in a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects.
  • Strong preference for experience in the HVAC or hydronics market.
  • Manufacturing Engineering experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, drawings, and technical literature.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy, ASME manufacturing, and QMS Systems.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes including forging and machining.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing.
  • Desire and ability to make independent decisions.
  • Strong background in hydronic heating and cooling mechanical devices.
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCad, Inventor and/or Solid Works.
  • Strong communications skills at both the technical and non-technical level, effectively communicate technical details to non-technical team members and customers.
  • Ability to work on, manage, and deliver several projects simultaneously.
  • Highly Organized.
