Step into a hands-on role where you’ll help bring complex machinery to life, supporting experienced builders and technicians on the shop floor and at customer sites. This is a practical, detail-focused position for someone who enjoys mechanical work, solving problems, and contributing to a smooth, efficient machine build process.

About the Role:
As a Machine Build Assistant, you will support the assembly, installation, and alignment of industrial machinery under the guidance of senior technicians and engineers. You will play a key role in ensuring machines are built to specification, installed correctly, and ready for safe, reliable operation. Your work will directly impact project timelines, quality standards, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with mechanical assembly of machine components, subassemblies, and frameworks according to drawings and build instructions.
  • Support machine installation activities, including positioning, leveling, and alignment of equipment on-site.
  • Perform basic electrical wiring tasks such as routing cables, terminating connections, and labeling as directed.
  • Help with basic electrical troubleshooting, including checking continuity, identifying loose connections, and replacing simple components.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments to complete assembly and installation tasks accurately.
  • Prepare work areas, organize parts and hardware, and maintain a clean, safe, and orderly build environment.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and engineers, following instructions and providing clear updates on task progress.
  • Assist with functional checks and test runs by monitoring machine performance and reporting issues promptly.

Key Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly or related industrial/maintenance work.
  • Familiarity with machine installation and alignment practices, including the use of levels, squares, and basic measuring tools.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical wiring principles and safe work practices.
  • Ability to read and follow basic mechanical drawings, diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Competence in using common hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively within a team.
  • Willingness to work on-site at customer locations as needed, including occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working with industrial machinery or automation equipment.
  • Exposure to electrical troubleshooting using multimeters or similar diagnostic tools.
  • Background in a manufacturing, fabrication, or maintenance environment.
  • Understanding of basic safety standards related to machine building and installation.
  • Ability to assist with simple mechanical adjustments and alignments beyond basic setup.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or vocational training in mechanical, industrial, or electrical fields preferred.
  • OSHA or equivalent safety training certifications are an advantage.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred for travel to customer sites.

If you are a reliable, mechanically inclined team player ready to support complex machine builds, we invite you to apply and contribute to successful installations across South Carolina.
