Job Description

Step into a high-impact electrical role supporting complex industrial and commercial operations across global-standard facilities. This contract position offers the chance to apply advanced technical skills, ensure compliance with stringent codes and regulations, and keep critical systems running safely and reliably in Michigan-based projects.

About the Role:
In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment to global standards while ensuring full compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Michigan electrical regulations. You will support high-voltage and medium-voltage infrastructure, diagnose complex issues, and implement safe, effective solutions that minimise downtime and risk. Your work will directly contribute to the reliability, safety, and performance of electrical systems across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in industrial and commercial environments to global standards.
  • Interpret and work from electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation for complex installations and upgrades.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics on complex electrical equipment and systems to identify and resolve faults.
  • Execute wiring, conduit bending, and cable management tasks, ensuring neat, compliant, and efficient installations.
  • Operate, maintain, and perform routine checks on high-voltage and medium-voltage equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Conduct inspections and testing to verify compliance with NEC and Michigan electrical codes, documenting findings and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to coordinate electrical work within broader project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and system configurations for ongoing maintenance and regulatory purposes.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an electrician working on industrial or commercial electrical systems, including high-voltage and medium-voltage equipment.
  • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Michigan electrical regulations, with demonstrated application in the field.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex electrical equipment and systems.
  • Competence in wiring, conduit bending, and cable management aligned with global electrical standards.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical safety practices and procedures, particularly for high-voltage environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a contract-based environment.
  • Willingness to travel within Michigan to different project sites as required.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with global electrical standards and multi-country compliance requirements.
  • Background in industrial automation, controls, or PLC-based systems.
  • Familiarity with energy management systems and power quality analysis.
  • Previous experience on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to use advanced diagnostic tools and test equipment for complex systems.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license in Michigan (required).
  • Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship or vocational training program (required).
  • High school diploma or GED (required); associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field (preferred).
  • Additional certifications in high-voltage safety, arc flash, or NFPA 70E compliance (preferred).

If you bring strong technical expertise and a commitment to safe, compliant electrical work, this contract role offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects across Michigan. Apply if you’re ready to take on complex challenges in a demanding, professional environment.
