About the Role:
You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems on a contract basis, supporting commercial, industrial, and residential projects as needed. Working both independently and as part of a team, you will ensure all electrical work is completed to NEC standards, project specifications, and client timelines. Your contribution will be critical in minimising downtime, preventing hazards, and maintaining reliable power and lighting for end users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment in accordance with NEC and project plans.

  • Install, maintain, and upgrade interior and exterior lighting systems, including fixtures, controls, and associated wiring.
  • Perform conduit bending, routing, and installation (EMT, rigid, flexible) to support new and existing electrical runs.
  • Use electrical testing equipment (meters, testers, analyzers) to verify system integrity, continuity, and proper operation.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and work orders to plan and execute installations and repairs.
  • Complete all work with attention to safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and site-specific requirements.
  • Document work performed, materials used, and test results to support project records and compliance needs.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an electrician, with a focus on installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its application to field installations.
  • Proficiency in electrical wiring and installation for commercial, industrial, and/or residential environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues using systematic diagnostic methods.
  • Skilled in conduit bending and installation, including planning routes and selecting appropriate materials.
  • Competent in the safe use of electrical testing equipment and tools.
  • Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and confined spaces and to handle the physical demands of the role.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to various sites across Michigan as required.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in contract or project-based environments with varying site conditions.
  • Familiarity with energy-efficient lighting solutions and modern lighting control systems.
  • Background in panel upgrades, service changes, and load calculations.
  • Experience coordinating with other trades on multi-disciplinary construction or maintenance projects.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills when interacting with site supervisors and clients.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent on-the-job training.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license in Michigan (or ability to obtain/transfer as required by project).
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in electrical systems preferred.
  • Valid OSHA safety training or similar safety certifications preferred.
  • Current driver’s license with a clean driving record.

If you are a skilled electrician looking for varied contract work where your technical expertise is valued, we invite you to apply and bring your experience to projects across Michigan.
