You’ll work on varied installation and maintenance projects, applying your technical skills to keep systems compliant, efficient, and running without interruption.

About the Role:
As a Contract Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment across client sites. You will ensure all work is completed to current electrical codes and standards, with a strong emphasis on safety and system reliability. Your contribution will help minimise downtime, extend equipment life, and support compliant, hazard-free environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, upgrade, and modify electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment according to project specifications.
  • Carry out electrical installations for panels, switchgear, and associated control systems.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on electrical systems to identify and address potential issues before failures occur.
  • Diagnose electrical faults using appropriate testing equipment and repair or replace defective components.
  • Conduct electrical testing and inspections to verify system integrity, performance, and compliance.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and layout plans to plan and execute installations and repairs.
  • Apply and enforce safety procedures on-site, including lockout/tagout and safe work practices around live circuits.
  • Document work performed, test results, and any corrective actions taken for client and internal records.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as an Electrician in commercial, industrial, or construction environments.
  • Strong hands-on skills in electrical wiring and installation of power and lighting systems.
  • Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment (e.g. multimeters, insulation testers, continuity testers).
  • Solid understanding of electrical safety procedures and hazard awareness in active work sites.
  • Working knowledge of current electrical codes and standards relevant to installation and maintenance work.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on electrical equipment and systems.
  • Experience installing and commissioning electrical panels, distribution boards, and switchgear.
  • Ability to work independently on contract assignments, managing time and priorities to meet project deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with troubleshooting complex control circuits and automation-related wiring.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency measures and power quality assessments.
  • Background in working on multi-disciplinary projects alongside mechanical and building services trades.
  • Competence in using digital tools for job reporting, asset records, and test documentation.
  • Exposure to working under permits-to-work and formal risk assessment processes.

Qualifications:

  • Recognised Electrician trade qualification or apprenticeship completion.
  • Valid electrical licence or certification appropriate to local regulatory requirements.
  • Additional training or certification in electrical safety (e.g. lockout/tagout, arc flash awareness) preferred.
  • Continuing professional development or courses in updated electrical codes and standards advantageous.

If you are a skilled Electrician looking for varied contract work where safety, quality, and technical competence are valued, we encourage you to apply.
