About the Role:
As a Machine Build Assistant, you will support the end-to-end assembly and fabrication of industrial machinery, ensuring each build meets strict quality and safety standards. Working closely with senior technicians and engineers, you will help turn detailed plans into fully functioning equipment, contributing to efficient production and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with mechanical assembly of machinery components, subassemblies, and frameworks according to drawings and build instructions.
• Perform basic fabrication tasks such as cutting, drilling, fitting, and fastening parts to specified tolerances.
• Install and route basic electrical wiring and pneumatic lines under supervision, ensuring clean and organized layouts.
• Support troubleshooting of mechanical issues during build, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Conduct visual and dimensional inspections during and after assembly to verify quality and adherence to specifications.
• Maintain accurate build records, including assembly checklists, test results, and any deviations or rework performed.
• Keep work areas, tools, and equipment organized and in safe working condition, following 5S and housekeeping standards.
• Follow all industrial safety procedures and assist in identifying and reporting potential hazards in the build environment.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience in mechanical assembly and fabrication within a manufacturing, industrial, or machine-building environment.
• Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
• Working knowledge of basic electrical and pneumatic systems as they apply to machine assembly.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with mechanical components and assemblies.
• Familiarity with quality control practices, including measurements, inspections, and documentation of build activities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work to precise tolerances and specifications.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and basic fabrication equipment.
• Understanding of industrial safety practices and OSHA compliance requirements in a shop or plant setting.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience assisting in the build of automated or semi-automated machinery or production equipment.
• Exposure to lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or 5S methodologies.
• Basic experience with lockout/tagout procedures and other advanced safety protocols.
• Comfort working with computer-based documentation systems or ERP for recording build data.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to suggest minor improvements to build processes.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Vocational or technical training in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing technology preferred.
• OSHA safety training or certification (e.g., OSHA 10 or OSHA 30) highly desirable.
• Any relevant certifications in mechanical assembly, fabrication, or industrial maintenance are an advantage.
