Join a forward-thinking engineering team delivering complex industrial and commercial projects across Ohio. This contract role offers the opportunity to shape high-performance electrical systems from concept through construction, using modern design tools and standards. Youll work on technically challenging assignments where your expertise directly improves safety, reliability, and energy efficiency.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for producing detailed electrical designs and documentation that comply with NEC and project-specific standards. Working closely with project engineers and other disciplines, you will translate functional requirements into coordinated drawings and models. Your work will support successful installation, commissioning, and long-term operation of power, lighting, controls, and automation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop electrical power distribution, lighting, and control system designs for industrial and commercial facilities.
- Produce detailed CAD drawings and Revit/BIM models, including plans, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and device layouts.
- Perform lighting design and photometric analysis to meet project illumination, energy, and code requirements.
- Apply National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant standards to ensure compliant and safe electrical system designs.
- Design and document PLC-based control systems, including I/O layouts, control schematics, and network architectures.
- Integrate Allen-Bradley PLCs and Fanuc robots into overall control system designs, coordinating with mechanical and process teams.
- Coordinate electrical designs with other disciplines, resolve clashes, and incorporate field and client feedback into revisions.
- Prepare technical documentation and support construction teams with clarifications, RFIs, and as-built updates.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Electrical Designer in industrial or commercial projects, preferably in a contract or consulting environment.
- Strong hands-on proficiency with AutoCAD for electrical drafting and documentation.
- Practical experience with Revit or other BIM tools for coordinated electrical modeling.
- Solid working knowledge of NEC and its application to power distribution, lighting, and control systems.
- Demonstrated capability in lighting design and photometric analysis using appropriate software tools.
- Experience designing PLC-based control systems, including Allen-Bradley platforms.
- Familiarity with integrating and specifying Fanuc robots within automated systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications, equipment data, and field information to produce accurate designs.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with industrial automation networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, or similar).
- Exposure to process or manufacturing environments with robotics and material handling systems.
- Knowledge of energy-efficient lighting technologies and controls (e.g., occupancy sensing, daylight harvesting).
- Experience coordinating with contractors during installation and commissioning phases.
- Ability to support basic PLC programming or troubleshooting in collaboration with controls engineers.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or a related field.
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline preferred.
- Relevant coursework or certification in NEC application and electrical design strongly beneficial.
- Training or certification in AutoCAD and/or Revit/BIM platforms preferred.
- Additional vendor-specific training with Allen-Bradley PLCs or Fanuc robots is an advantage.
