About the Role:
You will be responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning industrial control systems, ensuring they operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with relevant standards. Working closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams, you will translate process requirements into robust control strategies and electrical designs that support production goals. Your work will have a direct impact on uptime, product quality, and operator safety across multiple facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and tune PID control loops to meet process performance and stability requirements.
- Program and configure PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) for new systems, upgrades, and modifications.
- Develop and integrate SCADA and HMI applications, including graphics, alarms, trends, and user interfaces.
- Create and review electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams for control and instrumentation systems.
- Ensure control system designs and installations meet NFPA, OSHA, and company safety standards.
- Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting on control system issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Support commissioning, start-up, and validation of control systems, including field testing and loop checks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to capture requirements, document changes, and maintain accurate control system documentation.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Control Engineer or similar role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong hands-on skills in PID control design, tuning, and optimization for process applications.
- Proficiency in PLC programming with major platforms such as Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) and Siemens.
- Experience developing and configuring SCADA and HMI systems for plant-wide monitoring and control.
- Solid understanding of electrical schematics, panel design, and industrial wiring practices.
- Working knowledge of control system safety concepts and compliance with NFPA and OSHA standards.
- Demonstrated ability to perform systematic root cause analysis and troubleshoot complex control issues.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and project stakeholders.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with additional PLC platforms and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus).
- Familiarity with safety PLCs, safety relays, and machine safety design principles.
- Exposure to batch or continuous process control in sectors such as chemicals, food & beverage, or automotive.
- Experience with version control, change management, and documentation tools for automation systems.
- Background in integrating control systems with MES or ERP platforms.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Control/Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Associate degree in a technical field with substantial relevant experience may be considered.
- Professional certifications in industrial automation or controls (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) are preferred.
- Formal training in NFPA, OSHA, or functional safety standards is an advantage.
