You’ll join a team that values rigorous planning, disciplined execution, and proactive risk management to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes.

About the Role:
As a Contract Project Engineer, you will oversee the technical and engineering aspects of construction projects from planning through close-out, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and to required standards. You will act as a key liaison between design, construction, vendors, and stakeholders, translating project requirements into executable plans. Your work will drive consistency, compliance, and quality across all phases of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and milestones, ensuring alignment with scope and contractual commitments.
  • Coordinate and oversee construction activities, providing engineering support to field teams to resolve technical issues and maintain progress.
  • Identify project risks, perform risk assessments, and implement mitigation strategies to minimise schedule, cost, and quality impacts.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, coordinating inspections and documentation as needed.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control procedures, including reviews, inspections, and testing protocols.
  • Perform technical design reviews and analyses, validating constructability, accuracy, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Manage contracts and vendor relationships, including scope definition, change management, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Prepare and present project status reports, technical documentation, and progress updates to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Project Engineer in construction or related engineering projects.
  • Strong background in project planning, scheduling, and coordinating multi-disciplinary project activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in construction management, including field coordination and contractor oversight.
  • Practical experience in risk assessment and mitigation within construction or engineering environments.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory and code compliance relevant to construction projects in the U.S.
  • Hands-on experience with quality assurance and quality control processes on construction or engineering projects.
  • Proficiency in technical design review and analysis, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
  • Experience managing contracts and vendors, including negotiation, performance tracking, and issue escalation.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with project management software and scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Experience working on projects in industrial, commercial, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience working on ITAR-controlled projects or familiarity with ITAR compliance requirements and handling controlled technical data.
  • Knowledge of lean construction practices or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Exposure to cost control, budgeting, and forecasting in a project environment.
  • Ability to work across multiple concurrent projects or phases.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio or eligibility to obtain it is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is an advantage.
  • Relevant safety training or certifications (e.g., OSHA) are beneficial.
