About the Role:
You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and motor controls in industrial and commercial facilities. Working across a variety of sites, you’ll ensure all work meets National Electrical Code (NEC) and Michigan electrical standards while minimizing downtime and disruptions to operations. Your ability to diagnose issues quickly and implement effective solutions will be critical to supporting production and facility performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform installation, modification, and repair of electrical wiring, conduit, panels, and related components in industrial and commercial settings.
• Install, configure, and maintain motor control systems, including starters, VFDs, and control circuits.
• Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostic work on electrical systems, equipment, and controls to identify faults and implement corrective actions.
• Use electrical testing and measuring instruments to verify system performance, continuity, and safety compliance.
• Interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to plan and execute installations and repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to reduce unplanned downtime.
• Apply and enforce safety procedures, including lockout/tagout practices, during all electrical work.
• Document work performed, materials used, and test results in accordance with company and client requirements.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience as an electrician in industrial and/or commercial environments.
• Strong hands-on skills in electrical wiring, installation, and panel work.
• Demonstrated experience with motor controls, including troubleshooting and repair.
• Proficient in using electrical testing and measuring instruments (e.g., multimeters, megohmmeters, clamp meters).
• Solid troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex electrical and control issues.
• Familiarity with working from electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Strong awareness of and adherence to safety procedures and lockout/tagout practices.
• Reliable, able to work independently on contract assignments, and manage time effectively across multiple sites.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with industrial automation systems, PLCs, or control panels.
• Background in maintenance within manufacturing, processing, or heavy industrial facilities.
• Experience coordinating with other trades and contractors on multi-discipline projects.
• Ability to adapt quickly to different client environments and site requirements.

Qualifications:

• Licensed or Journeyman Electrician status in Michigan (or ability to meet Michigan licensing requirements).
• Completion of a formal electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent training.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in electrical technology preferred.
• Current knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Michigan electrical codes, with ongoing commitment to staying updated.
