About the Role:
As Contract Installation Manager, you will oversee day-to-day site operations for assigned installation contracts, ensuring work is delivered on time, within scope, and in line with regulatory and company requirements. You will coordinate contractors and resources, manage on-site risks, and act as the primary point of contact for all site-related matters. Your leadership will directly influence project outcomes, client satisfaction, and the safety culture on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily site activities for installation projects, ensuring alignment with project plans, schedules, and contract requirements.
- Coordinate and supervise contractors, trades, and suppliers on site, resolving conflicts and sequencing work to maintain progress.
- Implement and enforce site safety management procedures, conducting toolbox talks, site inductions, and regular safety inspections.
- Identify, assess, and manage on-site risks, escalating issues and implementing mitigation measures as required.
- Oversee technical aspects of installation works, providing guidance and problem-solving support to ensure correct and compliant execution.
- Monitor and control site quality, conducting inspections, reviewing test results, and ensuring adherence to specifications and standards.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, progress updates, permits, and as-built documentation.
- Liaise with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to report progress, address issues, and support smooth project handover.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a site leadership or supervisory role within construction, installation, or related project environments.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, coordination, and on-site execution of multi-phase works.
- Demonstrated experience in site safety management, including implementing safe systems of work and conducting safety briefings.
- Solid background in risk assessment and control, with the ability to identify hazards and implement effective mitigation measures.
- Competence in technical problem-solving, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Experience in quality assurance on site, including inspections, defect management, and compliance with industry standards.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to direct site teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Proficiency in using basic project and site reporting tools for documentation and progress tracking.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working on multi-contractor or complex installation projects.
- Familiarity with digital construction tools, such as field management or snagging software.
- Knowledge of lean construction practices or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Previous involvement in commissioning or handover activities for installation projects.
Qualifications:
- Relevant technical or construction-related qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC/HND, or equivalent) in construction, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Recognised site safety qualification or certification (e.g., CSCS/CSR, SSSTS/SMSTS, or equivalent).
- Formal training or certification in project management or construction management is advantageous.
- Additional training in risk assessment, health and safety, or quality management is preferred.
