Step into a high-impact contract role where you’ll shape complex automation and control solutions for a diverse client base, working with modern PLC, SCADA and HMI platforms. Join a forward-thinking engineering team in Sydney, representing a respected brand on critical projects while driving technical excellence from design through to commissioning.

About the Role:
You will be responsible for delivering control system solutions that align with project tender specifications and Orise project delivery methodologies. Acting as a key technical representative, you will support projects across their full lifecycle, ensuring solutions are robust, cost-effective and delivered within agreed scope, budget and schedule. Your work will directly influence project quality, client satisfaction and the continuous improvement of delivery practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development of control system designs in line with project tender specifications and Orise project delivery methodologies
  • Represent Orise as the technical point of contact during consulting engagements, RFI responses, technical clarification meetings and project delivery phases
  • Lead the development, configuration and testing of PLC, SCADA and HMI solutions using vendor-agnostic automation platforms
  • Share technical knowledge with project delivery teams across regions to develop accurate, segment-specific solutions for customer requirements
  • Contribute to technical retrospectives and feedback sessions to improve operational effectiveness and delivery processes
  • Monitor project and task budgets for design, documentation, programming, installation and commissioning activities to ensure work is completed within financial and schedule constraints
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and on-site commissioning activities
  • Execute tasks related to the technical scope of projects in delivery, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards and quality requirements

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Controls/Automation Engineer working across the full project lifecycle
  • Strong hands-on experience with PLC, SCADA and HMI development and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and work from tender specifications, functional descriptions and detailed design documents
  • Experience representing an engineering or systems integrator organisation in technical meetings with clients and stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of project delivery methodologies, including scope management, budgeting and scheduling for engineering tasks
  • Strong troubleshooting and commissioning skills for industrial control systems
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently in a contract environment, managing workload and priorities across multiple projects

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with multiple major automation platforms (e.g. Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, etc.) in vendor-agnostic environments
  • Background in sectors such as manufacturing, resources, utilities, or infrastructure
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for safety, reliability and cyber security in control systems
  • Experience working in multi-region or multi-site project delivery teams
  • Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives and feedback-driven process enhancements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Control Systems or a related discipline
  • Relevant trade or diploma qualifications in industrial automation or control systems (for candidates with strong practical experience)
  • Professional engineering affiliation or eligibility (e.g. Engineers Australia) preferred
  • Vendor or industry certifications in PLC/SCADA/HMI platforms advantageous
