Overview
We are seeking an Intermediate Allen-Bradley PLC Controls Engineer to support on-site installation, configuration, and commissioning activities for an automation project. This role will involve hands-on work with hardware installation, PLC updates, testing, troubleshooting, and bringing equipment online at the customer’s facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site installation, wiring verification, and system setup of automation equipment.
- Implement PLC program updates and make minor modifications in Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000 as required.
- Assist with the configuration and testing of HMI/SCADA systems (FactoryTalk View ME/SE).
- Conduct system testing, debugging, and tuning of control logic during commissioning.
- Collaborate with senior controls engineers and customer technicians to ensure successful equipment startup.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment, network, and controls-related issues during installation.
- Document changes, update I/O lists, and support as-built documentation.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and customer site protocols.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
- Hands-on proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs, particularly ControlLogix and CompactLogix.
- Working knowledge of Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000, including ability to read and modify ladder logic and structured text.
- Understanding of industrial networks such as EtherNet/IP.
- Experience with electrical panels, instrumentation, and field devices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work effectively in a customer-facing environment.
- Ability to travel and work on-site for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FactoryTalk View ME/SE or similar HMI platforms.
- Familiarity with VFDs, servos, and safety circuits.
- Prior commissioning or field service experience.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
