Job Description

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for directly supervising a team of 10 to 50 Pipefitters. The successful candidate will act as a working lead, executing supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations. Key duties include planning, coordinating, assigning, and directing tasks, as well as resolving on-the-job technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to Pipefitters on the installation and layout of piping systems and fixtures.

  • Plan and track progress of mechanical system builds, from kickoff through final installation at customer sites.

  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure workmanship and installations meet company and client standards.

  • Collaborate with supervisors on production timelines and labor planning.

  • Communicate policies and enforce safety protocols among the team.

  • Review blueprints, specifications, and job orders to effectively delegate tasks.

  • Adjust workflows and schedules to meet project deadlines.

  • Recommend improvements to enhance build quality, efficiency, and safety.

  • Help resolve job-related issues and provide technical support to team members.

  • Encourage team motivation and morale to maintain high performance.

  • Coordinate with other department leads to align project timelines and material needs.

  • Participate in meetings and contribute to planning discussions.

  • Ensure field modifications and design changes are properly documented and communicated.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in hands-on work and assist as needed.

  • Promote and maintain a safe and environmentally compliant work environment.

  • Actively support the company’s quality management system and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Maintain reliable attendance as a core requirement of the role.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to clearly read and interpret safety guidelines, technical manuals, and work instructions.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in basic algebra, geometry, and unit conversion.

  • Capable of solving real-world technical problems with limited standard solutions.

  • Able to interpret complex instructions delivered via various formats (written, verbal, diagrams, schedules).

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to use hands for precise work, and to communicate clearly.

  • Frequent standing, walking, and reaching; occasional climbing, stooping, and crawling.

  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds occasionally.

  • Vision requirements include clarity at close and long distances, color differentiation, peripheral awareness, depth perception, and focusing abilities.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant field experience

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Information:

  • Candidate must be capable of independently managing large teams.

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential.
