CNC Set Up Operator Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking skilled CNC Lathe Operators for 2nd and 3rd shift in Elkhart, Indiana. The ideal candidates will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathe machines to produce precision parts according to specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality control.

Duties

• Set up and operate CNC machines, ensuring proper tooling and fixtures are in place.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining specifications in English.
• Perform quality control checks using calipers and other measuring tools to ensure parts meet required tolerances.
• Conduct routine maintenance on CNC equipment, troubleshooting any issues that arise during operation.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
• Successfully demonstrate trouble shooting and problem-solving ability
• Requires repetitively lifting average weight objects with repetitive bending and stooping (up to 50 lbs).

Experience

• 2+ years as either a CNC Lathe or Horizontal Mill Operator working with various metals.
• 2+ years set up experience, including complex parts and difficult setups.
• Ability to read and interpret component prints or drawings, make average to complicated arithmetic calculations, and resolve technical problems.
• Must understand G Codes (Okuma).
• Intermediate math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining processes.
• Experience in quality control processes to ensure high standards of production output.
• Must be proficient in use of measuring devices (i.e. micrometers and calipers)
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
