POSITION SUMMARY
The Radiation Therapist is an ARRT Registered Therapist who is responsible for the administration of radiation therapy as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. The Therapist will have to interact with a variety of people including, but not limited to patients with cancer, physicians, nurses, patient's family, and co-workers. Therapist must possess good interpersonal communication skills. The disease of cancer may strike any age group necessitating that this position be involved in the care of all age groups from newborns through geriatrics.
Responsibilities:
- Administer radiation therapy treatments to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist.
- Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment.
- Monitor patient's responses to treatment and report any adverse reactions to the medical team. - Ensure accurate documentation of treatment sessions and patient records.
- Collaborate with the oncology team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Radiation Therapist.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Prior experience in a Radiation Oncology Department is desirable but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to patient care.
