QA Analyst, Financial Applications

About the Opportunity

We’re seeking a Mid-to-Senior QA Analyst to join a financial services technology team supporting business-critical applications. This is a hands-on manual testing role for someone who enjoys digging into complex applications, understanding how data moves through business processes, and partnering closely with development and support teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

The ideal candidate combines strong manual QA experience with an understanding of financial applications and data. Experience with SQL and API/web service testing is important, and familiarity with banking, lending, accounting, finance, or payments will be particularly valuable.

This role also offers the opportunity to expand into test automation over time.

What You'll Do

• Develop, maintain, and execute test cases, test scenarios, and other QA assets for web-based business applications
• Perform functional, regression, integration, API, and end-to-end testing
• Identify, analyze, document, and track defects through resolution
• Partner with development and application support teams to reproduce issues, troubleshoot root causes, and validate fixes
• Write and execute SQL queries to extract and validate data within relational databases
• Test web services and APIs using tools such as Postman or SoapUI
• Maintain and continuously improve test assets, documentation, and QA processes
• Develop an understanding of the company's financial workflows, including loan origination, servicing, and payments
• Participate in Agile development activities and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle
• Proactively identify potential quality issues and opportunities to improve testing efficiency and coverage

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience testing web-based applications
• Experience testing financial applications or business processes, ideally within banking, lending, accounting, payments, or financial services
• Strong experience developing, maintaining, and executing test cases
• Hands-on experience writing SQL queries and working with relational databases
• Experience testing APIs and web services
• Experience with Postman, SoapUI, or similar API testing tools
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to quickly learn complex applications, processes, and business concepts
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritize effectively and work collaboratively across development, support, and business teams
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or a related field

Nice to Have

• Experience with loan origination, loan servicing, or payment systems
• ETL/data integration testing experience
• Familiarity with other financial software platforms
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Exposure to test automation
• Experience with or interest in learning Selenium and Ruby

You're dependable, analytical, and thorough, but also comfortable working collaboratively with developers, support teams, and business stakeholders. You take ownership of issues through resolution and look for incremental ways to improve both the testing process and the quality of the end product.
