Your Impact

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will lead database administration efforts supporting mission-critical systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

This role is designed for a highly seasoned DBA who can operate both hands-on and as a strategic advisor. You will help fill a senior gap on the team, partnering closely with application teams and developers to improve database performance, reliability, and long-term architecture—particularly as the organization continues its transition to the cloud.

Approximately 60% of your work will focus on core production DBA responsibilities, with the remaining 40% dedicated to query tuning, optimization, and advisory initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable SQL Server environments
  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and drive tuning and optimization efforts
  • Manage security, access controls, and data protection (including row-, column-, and table-level security)
  • Oversee backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
  • Automate DBA tasks and support deployments
  • Utilize monitoring and deployment tools (e.g., Redgate or similar)
  • Collaborate with development teams on schema design, indexing, and query performance
  • Establish and enforce database standards and governance
  • Support migrations, upgrades, and cloud transition initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 7+ years of SQL Server DBA experience
  • Expertise in performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
  • Experience with HA/DR solutions (Always On, clustering, replication)
  • Strong knowledge of database security and backup/recovery strategies
  • Advanced T-SQL and automation skills
  • Experience in mid-size or enterprise environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or other cloud platforms
  • Familiarity with DevOps / CI/CD for database deployments
  • Relevant database certifications
  • Exposure to additional database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, NoSQL)
