Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Conceive, design, develop, and implement automated and semi-automated testing and manufacturing systems and solutions. Systems and solutions may include but are not limited to: electronic circuits and control devices, mechanical and pneumatic fixtures, motion control, automotive communication standards, and analog and digital video processing. Champions development and implementation of new technologies and standards for new products and processes. Work with internal and external resources to ensure all projects needs and expectations are satisfied. Monitor and control cost, timing, and other related aspects of projects.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science and/or electrical engineering, with understanding of engineering practices, principles, processes and systems; Masters preferred. 2. Ten years in automotive industry with a background in electronics and software design required. 3. Experience in software collaboration and documentation tools such as Git, Mercurial, SVN, Confluence, Jira. 4. Deep understanding of communication protocols used in automotive applications including: CAN, LIN, UART, I2C, etc. 5. Demonstrated use of Microsoft Visual Studio .NET; knowledge of C++, Python, LabView and other programming languages a plus. 6. Demonstrated ability to create experiments and collect data to detect and root cause manufacturing and product issues. 7. Demonstrated familiarity with manufacturing processes and testing; camera, radar, LIDAR manufacturing experience a plus. 8. Experience with 6 DOF robotics a plus. 9. Demonstrated initiative to adapt and learn new processes and technologies from scratch. 10. Demonstrated creativity and ingenuity to work on moderate to long-term assignments which are broad in nature. 11. Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate projects, manage conflicting needs, and deal with many issues at one time. Must be able to work independently. 12. Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts and represent the Company in a professional manner when performing job duties. 13. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to exercise influence at various levels and functions. 14. Demonstrated ability to research and recommend new products and processes. Must be able to initiate implementation of continuous improvement processes. 15. Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.

DUTIES:

Decisions and actions made are likely to have long-ranging effect on organizational effectiveness and success.

  • Develop, validate, document, and implement new technologies and standards.
  • Plan, design, develop, document, and implement circuits, sub-circuits, components, mechanical systems, and software solutions to solve production and product issues to Company and Customer specifications.
  • Develop tester concepts and test procedure outlines from basic product knowledge.
  • Define scope, plan, organize, and execute experiments related to test and process engineering activities and product improvements for new and existing programs.
  • Works with internal and external resources throughout design/development phase to ensure all project needs/expectations are met.
  • Serves as a resource to initiate action to overcome obstacles and prevent potential problems.
  • Champions continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and comply with automotive environmental, electrical, and communication specifications.
  • Serves as expert resource for other test engineers located here in Holly and in Germany and China. Occasional travel will be required.
