Job Description

Job Title: Construction Estimator

Location: Greenville, SC 

Job Summary: The Construction Estimator will work under the direct supervision of a Chief Construction Officer and in conjunction with Project Management Teams. He or She draws up, estimates, and determines the overall costs of a new or existing construction project.

Estimator 1 The Estimating Manager 1 will prepare cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals, develop more economical ways to construct projects and provide comprehensive deliverables for major estimates. 

  • 3+ years estimating experience required.
  • Preference for total of 5+ years construction experience.

Estimating Manager The Estimating Manager will review and execute bids on multiple and/or more complex projects. This position will be responsible for all aspects of the estimating and bid process, from review of plans and specifications, to soliciting and negotiating prices from contractors and suppliers.

  • 5+ years estimating experience required.
  • Preference for total of 8+ years construction experience.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares and estimates budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications.
  • Evaluates offers to purchase by site requirements, additions, and costing changes.
  • Resolves cost differences by analyzing and collecting info.
  • Writes up and presents budgets, reports, and project plans.
  • Develops bids for construction projects.
  • Works closely with architects and other professionals.
  • Schedules meetings with clients, site managers, and staff.
  • Navigates and understands building codes.
  • Processes paperwork and travels to building sites as required.
  • Monitors construction processes.
  • Stays up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction. Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in construction or a related field, preferred.
  • Computer/Software proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Microsoft Projects, Primavera, On-Screen Takeoff, Timberline, BlueBeam Revu, and other software platforms.
  • Ability to work with client, end user, subcontractor, and management representatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to execute high-level decisions that affect the project on a regular basis.
  • Ability to shift gears mid-stream to address emerging issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with government clients, USACE, GSA, .NAVFAC, etc.
  • Experience with estimating software.
  • Experience writing project planning documents (EPP, APP, QCP, AHA, RFI/RFV etc.).
  • Familiarity with EM 385-1-1.
  • US Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM) or be willing to obtain.

Certifications / Training Requirements

  • Must have OSHA-10 Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training Program Certification or be willing to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • PMP certificate training

Work Schedule This position requires regular consistent work schedules of up to 40 hours or more per week, and will require periodic travel to job sites, client meetings, and/or business development events.
