- Experience developing factory layouts, manufacturing cells, production workflows, and material flow

- Experience developing tooling, fixtures, work instructions, routers, build books, and manufacturing processes
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of new manufacturing area setup and industrialization activities

FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support the industrialization and launch of new aerospace and defense product lines within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. This hands-on role will be responsible for developing factory layouts, manufacturing cells, workflows, tooling, fixtures, work instructions, routers, build books, and production processes for a new manufacturing area. The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing and industrial engineering experience, Lean Manufacturing knowledge, CAD and GD&T familiarity, and the ability to independently coordinate tooling, equipment, facilities, production flow, and cross-functional implementation activities from initial concept through production readiness.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Planning, developing, analyzing, and implementing factory layouts and manufacturing work cells
- Developing space requirements and material flow to reduce bottlenecks, waste, and unnecessary movement
- Establishing efficient production workflows for new and existing products
- Supporting the layout and setup of a new manufacturing area
- Coordinating closely with Facilities and Engineering during installation and buildout activities
- Developing and maintaining production methods and manufacturing cell configurations
- Creating and maintaining routers, build books, Standard Operating Procedures, and manufacturing documentation
- Developing work instructions for assembly, production, overhaul, and repair activities
- Planning and coordinating acquisition of required equipment, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing resources
- Supporting selection and implementation of production tooling and light manufacturing equipment
- Developing and maintaining manufacturing production standards
- Reviewing engineering drawings for manufacturability
- Providing Design for Manufacturability feedback to Engineering
- Writing or supporting Engineering Change Orders as required
- Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical manufacturing problems
- Supporting investigation and resolution of test failures
- Witnessing and evaluating acceptance testing to verify product performance and test procedure accuracy
- Researching, designing, and testing new tooling, machinery, and automated systems
- Identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, quality, throughput, ergonomics, and efficiency
- Applying Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and improve production flow
- Developing manufacturing Bills of Material based on Engineering Bills of Material
- Coordinating with equipment manufacturers and material suppliers regarding installation, repairs, tooling, and procurement
- Supporting installation and startup of manufacturing equipment and production resources
- Working with technicians, machinists, suppliers, Engineering, Quality, Facilities, and Operations
- Supporting configuration-controlled manufacturing processes within a regulated environment
- Performing internal manufacturing and process audits as required
- Supporting new-product industrialization and production readiness activities
- Helping establish manufacturing processes for products containing mechanical, electrical, and electronic content
- Supporting fixture design and implementation for assembly and test operations
- Supporting electrical test equipment, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, and other manufacturing tools as applicable
- Identifying future opportunities for automation based on production volume and business requirements
- Providing hands-on manufacturing engineering support on the production floor
- Managing multiple engineering and implementation priorities with minimal supervision
- Performing other manufacturing engineering duties as assigned
The selected candidate will also possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field required
- 4 to 6 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering role preferred
- Experience developing factory layouts and manufacturing cells required
- Experience planning workflow, material flow, and production space utilization required
- Experience establishing manufacturing processes for new products preferred
- Experience creating routers, build books, work instructions, and SOPs required
- CAD experience required
- Creo or equivalent CAD experience preferred
- Strong familiarity with GD&T drawing standards required
- Lean Manufacturing experience required
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies required
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability principles preferred
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings for manufacturability required
- Experience developing or supporting tooling and fixtures required
- Experience coordinating equipment installation or production area setup preferred
- Experience working closely with Facilities during manufacturing area buildout preferred
- Mechanical aptitude required
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical or electrical manufacturing issues preferred
- Familiarity with electronics and electrical circuits preferred
- Experience with PLC programming or robotics a plus
- Knowledge of machining and material properties preferred
- CNC or machine shop exposure a plus
- Experience working with tooling, fixtures, and new-part setup preferred
- Experience within aerospace, defense, medical device, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment strongly preferred
- Experience with configuration-controlled manufacturing environments preferred
- Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing standards and requirements preferred
- AS9100 familiarity preferred
- AS9100 Quality Management System auditing experience a plus
- FAA and/or EASA certification experience a plus
- Experience working with technicians, machinists, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams required
- Strong project ownership and self-sufficiency required
- Ability to independently drive manufacturing implementation activities with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment
- Ability to successfully complete required background and drug screening
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident due to applicable export-control requirements

- Ability to work an approximately 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM schedule
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and work at a computer while reviewing CAD models, engineering drawings, manufacturing documentation, Bills of Material, layouts, and production data
- Ability to stand and walk throughout manufacturing, assembly, test, machine shop, and facility areas for extended periods
- Ability to move regularly between Engineering, Production, Facilities, Quality, and manufacturing work cells
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and access manufacturing equipment, fixtures, workstations, and production areas as needed
- Ability to use hands and fingers for computer work, tooling evaluation, measurement equipment, fixtures, documentation, and hands-on manufacturing support
- Ability to visually review engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, manufacturing documentation, tooling, fixtures, and assembled products
- Ability to occasionally handle, position, or move tooling, fixtures, components, and manufacturing equipment as required
- Ability to work around manufacturing machinery, electrical test equipment, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, tooling, and normal production activity
- Ability to wear required PPE and follow applicable manufacturing, engineering, quality, and safety procedures
- Ability to maintain focus, sound judgment, and attention to detail while managing multiple engineering and production priorities
Salary Range: $105,000 to $120,000/year plus discretionary bonus
