- Ability to work first shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, including Saturdays as required
- Strong blueprint reading and precision measurement skills

FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for interpreting blueprints, setting up workholding, operating CNC machinery, verifying dimensions and tolerances, documenting production activity, deburring completed parts, and maintaining safe and organized work areas. The ideal candidate will have extensive machining experience, strong CNC mill setup and operation skills, excellent blueprint comprehension, and the ability to accurately inspect work using precision measurement tools.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, including joints, material size and type, finishes, symbols, weld callouts, tolerances, and special requirements
- Setting up chucks, vises, fixtures, and other workholding devices on CNC machinery
- Setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes
- Using CNC codes to operate machines
- Accurately documenting programming, setup, run time, and total production time on Travelers
- Utilizing designated backed-up folders for storing CNC program data
- Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, and verifying production information and data
- Maintaining awareness of squareness, perpendicularity, parallelism, flatness, and applicable tolerances when setting up parts and weldments
- Maintaining blueprint tolerances, typically within .010" to .030", as required by the applicable drawing
- Using micrometers to verify dimensions
- Using dial calipers, machinist's squares, combination squares, 1-2-3 blocks, 2-4-6 blocks, tape measures, and related inspection tools
- Monitoring materials, machinery, production conditions, and work results to identify potential problems
- Deburring parts after machining and before transferring them to the next department
- Safely operating pneumatic tools including 90-degree mini grinders and straight mini grinders
- Safely operating electric tools including 4-inch grinders, 8-inch grinders, drill presses, hand drills, sanders, pedestal grinders, and honing tools
- Maintaining clean, organized, and clutter-free machines and work areas
- Following established manufacturing procedures and safety protocols
- Demonstrating concern for the safety of self and others at all times
- Adapting to different projects, part configurations, and manufacturing priorities as needed
- Performing other machining and production duties as assigned
The selected candidate will also possess:
- 5+ years of CNC machining experience required
- 5+ years of experience running CNC mills and/or lathes required
- CNC mill experience strongly preferred
- 10+ years of machining experience within a manufacturing environment preferred
- CNC machine setup experience required
- Strong blueprint reading experience required
- Ability to interpret dimensional tolerances, symbols, weld callouts, finishes, material requirements, and special drawing notes
- Experience using micrometers required
- Experience using dial calipers and other precision measuring tools required
- Experience using machinist's squares, combination squares, setup blocks, and related inspection equipment preferred
- Experience setting up chucks, vises, fixtures, and other workholding equipment required
- Knowledge of CNC codes and machine operation required
- Experience using pneumatic and electric hand tools required
- Strong understanding of machining tolerances and dimensional relationships required
- Experience deburring machined components required
- Safety protocol experience required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy required
- Ability to work on a variety of projects and adapt to changing production requirements
- Ability to maintain accurate production and setup documentation
- Ability to work independently within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work first shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
- Ability and willingness to work overtime as required, including Saturdays except designated holidays
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while operating CNC equipment and performing machining activities
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, push, pull, and move throughout machining and production areas
- Ability to use hands and fingers continuously for machine controls, tooling, setup equipment, measurement tools, hand tools, and material handling
- Ability to perform repetitive machining, setup, deburring, and inspection activities throughout the workday
- Ability to visually inspect machined parts, tooling, finishes, tolerances, and blueprint requirements
- Ability to safely operate CNC mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, sanders, honing tools, and related manufacturing equipment
- Ability to work around moving machinery, metal chips, tooling, lubricants, and normal manufacturing noise
- Ability to handle and position machined parts, fixtures, tooling, and materials as required for setup and production
- Ability to wear required PPE and follow applicable machining, manufacturing, and safety procedures
- Ability to maintain focus, accuracy, and attention to detail while working around production machinery
