FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a Quality Technician to support product and process quality, customer returns, calibration activities, inspections, testing, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment. This hands-on role is responsible for managing RMA activities, evaluating returned products, conducting functional testing and failure analysis, supporting calibration and gage management, performing production quality reviews and audits, and partnering with Quality, Production, Engineering, Sales, suppliers, and customers. The ideal candidate will have electronics experience, strong inspection and testing skills, knowledge of quality systems and problem-solving tools, and the ability to analyze technical data while remaining comfortable with hands-on product evaluation and measurement work.

 

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and supporting quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting, and problem solving
  • Managing all aspects of the RMA process from issuance through closure
  • Receiving and evaluating returned parts and customer complaints
  • Preparing written Evaluation Reports and Corrective Action Reports, including 8D reports
  • Communicating RMA dispositions including debit, replacement, repair, return as-is, and related resolutions
  • Conducting hands-on product evaluations, root cause analysis, repair, and functional testing
  • Applying problem-solving tools including 5-Whys, Fishbone analysis, DMAIC, and related methodologies
  • Identifying corrective actions in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Supporting containment activities associated with Corrective Action Reports
  • Collecting, analyzing, and presenting quality and operational data using appropriate quantitative methods
  • Supporting process analysis and continuous improvement activities
  • Planning, controlling, and supporting product and process quality activities
  • Supporting material control, acceptance sampling, and measurement systems
  • Providing technical support to Quality, Production, Engineering, and Sales teams
  • Performing measurements using appropriate methods, tools, and inspection equipment
  • Maintaining accurate data within the gage management system
  • Coordinating and supporting calibration activities for gages and measurement equipment
  • Performing in-house calibrations as appropriate
  • Coordinating third-party calibration services, including sourcing, scheduling, and execution
  • Minimizing production impact while completing required calibration activities
  • Performing quality reviews within production cells, including product, process, and documentation reviews
  • Witnessing functional testing as required
  • Generating Certificates of Compliance according to sales order requirements
  • Supporting suppliers, Production, and customers with quality-related activities
  • Participating in New Product Development and APQP projects
  • Supporting quality validation of new production introductions using DVP&R and statistical methods
  • Supporting Gage R&R and capability studies
  • Participating in Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects
  • Assisting with Core Tools including DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, and PPAP
  • Assisting with review of product and process change requests
  • Reviewing supplier and customer PPAP submissions as assigned
  • Supporting review and approval of Part Submission Warrants
  • Assisting with creation and revision of quality procedures, forms, reports, and documentation
  • Evaluating prototype products prior to production runs
  • Performing qualification testing and preparing reports for new product releases
  • Supporting issuance of Corrective Action Reports, Supplier Corrective Action Reports, and Material Rejection Reports
  • Performing process and product audits throughout production areas
  • Maintaining organized, accurate, and complete quality records
  • Supporting other quality-related activities as assigned

 

The selected candidate will also possess:

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent education preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of Quality experience may be considered in lieu of formal education
  • Electronics experience required
  • Formal Six Sigma training preferred
  • Experience with basic inspection and testing techniques required
  • Working knowledge of quality principles, systems, methods, tools, and standards required
  • Basic understanding of Quality Management Systems required
  • Knowledge of domestic and international quality and regulatory requirements preferred
  • Knowledge of FMEA, SPC, MSA, Lean Manufacturing, CAPA, Six Sigma, and 5S required
  • Basic knowledge of statistical concepts including first-pass yield, rates, percentages, averages, and standard deviation required
  • Ability to make decisions using risk-based and data-driven analytical thinking
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, test procedures, work orders, BOMs, written procedures, and technical standards required
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required
  • Ability to coordinate and execute interdepartmental activities
  • Ability to prioritize effectively based on business needs
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and report data using Microsoft Excel
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with ERP systems such as QAD preferred
  • Experience using web-based customer portals preferred
  • Strong attention to detail required
  • Comfortable performing hands-on technical and inspection work
  • Ability to maintain 5S standards and follow all applicable safety requirements
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to work onsite in Vernon, CA

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and move throughout production, inspection, and quality areas for extended periods
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer while reviewing quality records, analyzing data, preparing reports, and maintaining documentation
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for inspection, measurement, calibration, testing, repair, data entry, and standard quality activities
  • Ability to handle and physically move parts and products as needed
  • Ability to operate inspection, measurement, calibration, and testing equipment safely and accurately
  • Ability to visually inspect products, components, drawings, gages, test results, and production processes for quality and conformance
  • Ability to bend, reach, grasp, and perform repetitive hands-on tasks as needed
  • Ability to work around manufacturing equipment, electronics, parts, tools, and production activity
  • Ability to wear required PPE and follow all applicable manufacturing, quality, 5S, and safety procedures
  • Ability to maintain accuracy, focus, and attention to detail while performing technical quality activities
