Job Description
Our client, a manufacturer of metal automotive parts, is currently hiring for a skilled ACME Machinist to join their team!
Summary:
Operate, monitor, and adjust National Acme and Davenport multi-spindle screw machines to manufacture precision components while meeting quality, safety, and production standards.
Essential Duties
- Set up and operate National Acme and Davenport screw machines.
- Load bar stock and verify correct material.
- Install, adjust, and replace tooling, cams, gears, collets, drills, taps, reamers, and cut-off tools.
- Monitor machine operation and make adjustments to maintain dimensional tolerances.
- Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and comparators.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and process sheets.
- Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and quality issues.
- Complete routine preventive maintenance, including lubrication, chip removal, and coolant checks.
- Record production, quality inspections, and downtime.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area following company safety procedures.
- Assist with machine setups, changeovers, and training of new operators when needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience operating National Acme, Davenport, Acme-Gridley, or similar multi- spindle screw machines.
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Basic math skills and understanding of machining tolerances.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 4050 pounds.
