About the Role:
As an Electrical Technician, you will support day-to-day operations by diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment. You will work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve issues quickly and implement preventive measures that reduce downtime. Your ability to interpret schematics and use test equipment accurately will be key to ensuring reliable and safe operation of all assigned systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform troubleshooting on electrical systems, components, and equipment to identify faults and determine corrective actions.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to support repairs and installations.
- Use electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools to verify system performance and identify issues.
- Carry out preventive maintenance tasks on electrical panels, control systems, wiring, and related equipment according to maintenance schedules.
- Execute corrective maintenance, including component replacement, wiring repairs, and adjustments to restore equipment to proper operation.
- Perform soldering tasks on circuit boards, connectors, and wiring assemblies to ensure reliable electrical connections.
- Document maintenance activities, test results, and parts used in accordance with site procedures and standards.
- Collaborate with supervisors and other technicians to prioritise work orders and support safe, efficient operations.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Electrical Technician or similar role in an industrial, manufacturing, or facilities environment.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex faults systematically.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Hands-on experience using electrical test equipment including multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Solid soldering skills for repair and assembly of electrical components and connections.
- Familiarity with preventive and corrective maintenance practices for electrical systems.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to electrical safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and respond effectively to priority maintenance requests.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with PLC-based control systems and industrial automation equipment.
- Exposure to motor controls, VFDs, and relay logic systems.
- Basic mechanical aptitude to support electro-mechanical troubleshooting.
- Experience working under a CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System).
- Prior experience in a contract or field service environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical certificate or diploma in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred.
- State or local electrical license or journeyman status beneficial but not mandatory, depending on scope of work.
- Relevant safety training (e.g., NFPA 70E, OSHA 10/30) preferred.
